Aerobic Maintenance

MAINTAINING YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM

Maintenance contracts are something that is required by the Authorized Agent. Maintenance is what we do in order to make sure that your septic system is operating efficiently and prolongs the life of your equipment. Cleaning filters for both the air compressor and the effluent pumps are key to extending the life of these parts. They are expensive to replace but a little maintenance on them can extend their life.

Another item that if properly maintained can extend the life of your air compressor is the air diffuser. Over time the pores that allow the bubbles to be made will become clogged and when this happens the air pressure in the system rises and causes the air compressor to work harder and heat up. This accelerates the wear and tear on the air compressor.

The effluent pump which empties the pump tank is the next item of concern. When the system isn't pumped regularly and solid material is allowed to build up in the pump tank then the inlet filter on the effluent pump will become restricted. This will cause the effluent pump to work harder and heat up more which will reduce the useful life expectancy of the pump. Just one more reason to pump your system regularly.

Lastly is the control panel. Lightning, ants, and water are the problems. We can't do to much about lightning but the prevention of ants and water are the keys to keeping the control panel in good working order.

SEPTIC SYSTEM REPAIR

We repair all brands and types of systems. Please give us a call and let us diagnose what is wrong with your system.

Our philosophy is to repair something instead of replace something when it makes sense and not to do repairs on something that isn't broken.

Even with the best preventative maintenance, sooner or later a septic system will fail. Usually when a system fails there is an underlying root cause. Our goal is to properly diagnose the failed component and the underlying root cause.

Merely identifying the failed component and either fixing or replacing it is usually just a temporary solution. Identifying the root cause of the failure and correcting that in theory should prevent a repeat failure. That being said, every component in the septic system has a useful life based on the operating conditions and at some point in time will need to be replaced.

Information about septic systems

Damage

WHAT DAMAGES SEPTIC SYSTEMS

If you think of all the stuff that goes down the drain and makes it's way into your septic system and of that stuff that will not dissolve is the material that damages both your conventional and aerobic septic systems.

Whether you have a conventional type of septic system or an aerobic type of septic system only certain types of waste will break down into it's most basic elements in order to be expelled from the system and be absorbed by the vegetation covering your disposal field.

This remaining material which is non-biodegradable is the material that needs to be pumped out of your system on a regular basis. How regular is determined by the rate at which it enters and how big your system is.

In the case of a conventional system this material will first start to fill the trash tank or pre-treatment tank and then when there is a sudden high flow from say a bath tub draining or a washer machine emptying the material will flow into the drain field where it will start to clog the space inside and outside of the drain field pipes. Once this happens then the remedy can be quite expensive.

In the case of an aerobic system that relies on an effluent pump to pump the water out to either the spray heads or to the drip field this material will have a negative effect on the life of the pump.
